A Metro Gold Line train hit a Toyota Corolla that had driven under the railroad crossing arms in Pasadena on Oct. 18 at around 11:30 a.m., and the authorities detained the 57-year-old man driving the Toyota on suspicion of driving under the influence. The collision took place between South Arroyo Parkway and Raymond Avenue on California Boulevard, and the driver and his passenger suffered injuries in the accident.
California residents may be interested to learn that a staffer in the District of Columbia mayor's office was indicted for federal drug charges. Members of the U.S. Park Police and a SWAT team raided the 51-year-old staffer's home on Oct. 6. Authorities allegedly seized 120 grams of cocaine, 10 grams of crack cocaine and less than one gram of heroin during the raid. Police also recovered $2,000 in cash, three ski masks and a digital scale.
